Clerk – Public Works – District of Saanich

If you are customer service driven and enjoy working on multiple teams, the District of Saanich has an opportunity for you. The Public Works Division, consisting of six sections, is recruiting for two Clerks for casual, on-call work providing relief for sick leave and vacation coverage of our regular clerical staff. The successful candidates will show an enthusiasm for front line customer service while assisting internal and external customers with courtesy and tact. This position works independently on routine matters and is responsible for creating and maintaining a variety of systems, using a number of software programs. Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by a certificate in office practices; one year experience in a business or municipal office environment including customer service experience; keyboarding 40 wpm; considerable experience or training in standard computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, financial software packages, databases, including tables, graphics and desktop publishing and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Possession of a valid Occupational First Aid Level II is considered an asset. The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. up to 40 hours per week.
