Clerk – District of Saanich – Victoria, BC

If you are customer service driven and enjoy working on a team, the District of Saanich has an opportunity for you.  The Public Works Division is recruiting for two to four Clerks for casual, on-call work providing relief for sick leave and vacation coverage of our regular clerical staff.  This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a variety of filing systems, using a number of software programs.  The successful candidates will work independently on routine matters and will assist internal and external clients where courtesy and tact are required, with a focus on customer service.  Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by a certificate in office practices; one year experience in a business or municipal office environment including customer service experience; keyboarding 40 wpm, considerable experience or training in standard computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, financial software packages, databases, including tables, graphics and desktop publishing and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Possession of a valid Occupational First Aid Level II is considered an asset. The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., up to 40 hours per week.

These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $27.34 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits.
