The New Westminster Police Department is seeking an experienced individual who will process a variety of accounts payable transactions, and will review, calculate, verify, code, and process all invoices, including refunds and employee expenses and reimbursements, while ensuring compliance with NWPD policies. You will also assist with timekeeping entries and the maintenance of personnel data. The work requires that you establish and maintain effective working relations with a variety of internal and external contacts.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of rules, regulations and policies related to accounts payable and payroll.
Ability to understand and interpret regulations, rules and collective agreements.
Provide leave coverage to payroll, and assistance during busy periods.
Assist with the administration of internal policies and procedures.
Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of records and files related to the work performed.
Ability to maintain and establish effective working relations with a variety of internal and external contacts and provide information and assistance as required.
Skilled in the use of office equipment and computer software, including the Microsoft Office suite of products. Preference for those who bring knowledge of the JDE Enterprise system, Kronos Workforce software, and InTime Solutions.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Ability to learn new software as required.
Demonstrate tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
Ability to exercise initiative, prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision.
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by bookkeeping and commercial accounting courses, plus considerable related experience in accounting work or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the employer may be considered.
The successful candidate must be able to pass and maintain a background security clearance.
