Summary of role
This is an important role and an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our team. We are a passionate, diverse group of farmers and ranchers committed to building greater stability and growth opportunities for small-scale meat producers in British Columbia.
The Association Services Coordinator works remotely under the direction of the Executive Director and works closely with various committees to help deliver services for our members. Responsibilities of this role fall into three general categories: Administrative and Communication Services, Membership Services, Volunteer Coordination.
Administrative and Communication Services
The Coordinator will support the Executive Director with office, communications and funding administration, including the following:
Respond to general email and phone inquiries
Compile and distribute an e-newsletter via an electronic mailing program
Create social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Ensure content on website is current
Work with the Executive Director and the Membership Committee to plan, organize and facilitate programs and services for members
Process expense claims
Prepare monthly financial documentation for SSMPA Treasurer and external bookkeeper
Track expenses and assign them to corresponding projects.
Take minutes at meetings
Membership Services
The Coordinator will:
Engage with and support SSMPA members
Maintain membership database and mailing list
Register and renew memberships
Increase membership through strategy, outreach and networking
Make simple visual assets such as graphic designs for promoting member services
Seek out new opportunities for membership benefits
Facilitate online meetings and webinars for Association members
Work with the Executive Director to organize and deliver events, training and networking opportunities
Volunteer Coordination
The coordinator will:
Work with the Executive Director to develop and maintain a volunteer program
Be a point of contact for Regional Representatives
Gather information from Regional Representatives
Organize and coordinate volunteer meetings and events.
Qualifications
We are looking for the right personality with the desire to learn. Experience in similar work and knowledge of the sector is preferred but not essential. The successful applicant will be an organized self-starter and have great communication skills – both written and verbal. Experience and knowledge in marketing and looking after the needs of members in a non-profit organization would be an added asset. Computer skills are required and you should also be skilled in social media and website maintenance.
