The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting  applications for a full-time permanent   Assistant Regional Fire Chief  position based out of its Salmon Arm, BC offices.

Under the general direction of the Team Leader, Community Services and reporting to the Regional Fire Chief, the Assistant Regional Fire Chief assists the Regional Fire Chief on day to day operations of the fire services function including; fire investigations, fire pre-planning, equipment maintenance, inventory and purchasing standards.

The Assistant Fire Chief administers the training of the CSRD’s rural fire suppression services in line with standards developed by the Province as outlined in the British Columbia Structure Firefighter Competency and Training Playbook. The Assistant Regional Fire Chief develops and delivers meaningful training programs and assists department training officers with ongoing training needs. The Assistant Regional Fire Chief maintains a working relationship with the Provincial training agencies and consultants and oversees the delivery of fire training programs. The Assistant Regional Fire Chief assists with fire prevention and public education as assigned.

This is a permanent, full time position and is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement negotiated between the CSRD and CUPE Local 1908. The salary range for this position is $2,393.68 to $2,682.35 bi-weekly (2014 rates) with an attractive benefit package. Typical hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, some evening and weekend work may be required.
