The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to assume the position of Assistant Pool Supervisor with the Community Services Department for an approximate one year term. Under the direction of the Pool Supervisor, the incumbent is a working supervisor who is responsible for assisting with program planning and supervision of programs and staff. This includes supervising building maintenance as well as scheduling, promoting, evaluating and quality control of all aquatic recreational activities and programs. The work includes instructing programs, guarding, employee training and providing direction to on-duty staff. There is a requirement for the incumbent to be on-call at designated times and to respond to emergencies after hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The position requires that the individual has a Grade 12 diploma and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently and have strong interpersonal skills. Also, the following awards/certifications are required and must be maintained current while employed:

CPR-C, Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care
Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor
National Lifeguard Service, NLS Course Conductor
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certificate, CPR Instructor, First Aid/AED Instructor
Lifesaving Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor Trainer
Pool Operator Level I Certificate
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Valid Driver’s License

Must possess a minimum of three of the following certifications:

Supervisory skills training, Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
WHMIS Instructor, Pool Operator Certificate, Boating Instructors Certificate
Water Activity Coaching Certificate, Fitness Leadership Certificate
Computer training, Swim for Life Instructor Trainer
Swim For Life Instructor, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus training
Crisis Incident Stress Management Debriefing

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $63,458 – $77,839 as well as a monthly housing allowance of $450.
