The Comox Valley Regional District is seeking a permanent full-time assistant manager of planning services to join our planning and development services branch.
The planning and development services branch is responsible for matters relating to key interests of the planning and development services including building inspection, current planning, heritage conservation, long range planning, policy development and regional growth strategy. The intent is to manage all services in an integrated an approach and in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
The assistant manager of planning services works with the manager of planning services to direct comprehensive land use planning including subdivision, official community plan (OCP), zoning and policy reviews and the preparation of reports for consideration and approval by the general manager, chief administrative officer (CAO), committees of the board and the board. The position provides departmental leadership, direction, supervision and the development of planning department staff to ensure the provision of professional community planning services for the regional district. The assistant manager recommends planning services policies, procedures, bylaws and regulations, and acts as an expert professional resource on land use, development and zoning matters.
