Greenpeace Canada is seeking an experienced campaigner to assist the Head of Campaign and Campaigners in the implementation of campaign and project strategies and tactics and provide program support to the Arctic campaign.
The person in this position will support Greenpeace’s global campaign to save the Arctic and work as part of a broader Arctic campaign team under the local direction of Greenpeace Canada’s Head of Arctic Campaign.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide project coordination and assistance, including working with printers, translators, and designers across campaigns/projects.
Support the implementation of approved campaign plans and strategies to achieve campaign objectives and goals (e.g. public education, non?violent direct confrontation, spectacular action, lobbying), including undertaking fact-finding and research both online and offline; drafting letters and campaign materials; maintaining and managing contacts database; giving support to external events including: activities, actions, and media conferences.
Provide administrative support to the Head of Campaign and generally assist with activities in the arctic campaign including: meeting and teleconference logistics, mailings, email distribution, note taking, internal communications and other support as needed.
Maintain an active liaison with potential and established allied groups and coalition partners. Actively seek out and participate in discussions with influential individuals and groups. Communicate with federal/provincial officials related to environment policies and issues.
Research and analyze a wide range of specialized material on campaign issues and strategies. Participate in the preparation of materials and publications.
Promote support within Greenpeace and to the public to advance campaign goals. Together with the team, organize rallies, protests, demonstrations, actions and public events. Make presentations and respond to public speaking requests.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environmental and social justice issues;
Experience supporting campaigns, including research, strategic analysis, and goal-setting;
Experience setting and adhering to priorities in a volatile and ever-changing context;
Demonstrated analytical skills;
Ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds including First Nations, Inuit, environmentalists, and policymakers;
Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities;
Extremely fine-tuned organizational, administrative and time management skills;
Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives without supervision, yet participate effectively as part of a team;
Flexible, collaborative personality;
You will work with colleagues in Canada and around the world and some travel may be necessary. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required.
Candidates should understand and support Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience. All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
