Are you outgoing, upbeat, and full of curiosity? A creative and enthusiastic communicator, with a strong interest in the marine environment, natural history and conservation? If so, you might like to join us as an Aquarium Interpreter this summer.
We are seeking team players, with a passion for marine biology and a commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a field of biological sciences, marine biology, education, tourism or related field is preferred. Relevant high school level coursework also an asset.
Level 1 First Aid with CPR-C is an asset
Knowledge of local marine biodiversity, species, life history and habitats
Strong language skills in English are required. A second language is an asset
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience in animal handling and interpretation is an asset
Excellent interpersonal communications, presentation and public speaking skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to be creative and flexible with problem-solving skills
Terms and Conditions
Hours (per week): 35-40
Term: Full time from Late June to early September
Schedule will include weekends and some evenings
Pay: $17.00-$17.50 per hour, plus vacation pay.
The Discovery Passage Aquarium is in Campbell River, B.C.
