Administrative Clerk (Part-Time) – District of Mission – Mission, BC

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity that utilizes your exceptional administrative skills in a legislative environment? Our Corporate Services Department is seeking a highly motivated, administrative professional to join their team.

Reporting to the Deputy Corporate Officer, you will provide specialized administrative support to corporate administration staff, Council and its committees and the Manager of Civic Engagement and Corporate Initiatives. This includes a wide variety of high-level administrative and clerical functions such as records management, agenda, minutes, bylaws, online and print communication and social media initiatives.

You will have a good working knowledge of local government and applicable legislation, policies and records management practices. You must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, function as a team member, work calmly under pressure, and manage multiple activities to completion under tight deadlines. You must have sound working knowledge of the municipality’s corporate office and the role of committees and boards in a political environment along with excellent written and verbal skills with a strong knowledge of business English – including sentence structure, grammar and punctuation.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a demanding, multi-tasking office environment, be an advanced user of a variety of computer software such as MS Office and Lasherfiche, or similar electronic document management system, and can type 60 wpm. Proficiency using software such as Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress is considered an asset.
The 2015 wage rate for this CUPE position is $29.47 per hour plus 16% in lieu of benefits or an optional benefit package upon completion of 6 month probation. This position works a fixed schedule as follows:

Week 1:   Monday 08:00-16:30, Tues-Fri 10:00-14:00
Week 2:   Monday 10:00-16:30, Tues-Thurs 10:00-14:00
*May be required to work evening meetings and must be available to work additional hours for vacation/workload relief.
