Terramera is looking to add to their rapidly growing team a seasoned, focused, and successfulVP Sales & Marketing to head up US commercial operations.
Role & Responsibilities
Sales Operations
Responsible for leading all Sales activities in Terramera’s Crop Care business unit, including leadership for international wholesale neem products
P&L responsibility for US Crop Care commercial operations
Lead hiring of sales executive for Terramera’s Consumers Solutions business unit
Lead the hiring and professional development of Crop Care sales organization
Develop Crop Care sales business strategy and tactical plans for new product introductions to achieve profitable market share growth
Accountable for selection and key account management of channel distributor relationships
Work with key stakeholders from Marketing and Finance on pricing, margins and cash flow forecasts
Work with Marketing and Supply Chain on monthly, quarterly and annual sales demand planning & forecasts (by crop market, by customer) for each product SKU
Develop and administer company’s Distributor/Retail program
Collaborate with Marketing on developing key grower relations (corporate farms)
Marketing
Responsible for leading all Marketing activities in Terramera’s Crop Care business unit
Lead the hiring and professional development of Crop Care marketing organization
Leadership in the core marketing functional areas will include:
Brand / Asset (Active Ingredient) management
Product Marketing & Crop Management
Market Research and Intelligence
Communications (Advertising, Promotions and Digital Media)
Price Leadership (Gross / Net pricing); Gross Margin health
Sales, Operations & Planning
Develop Crop Care 5-year business strategy for new product introductions and product life cycle management to achieve profitable market share growth
Oversee the execution of crop campaign for 1-2 year tactical plans
In coordination with Business Development, prospecting potential in-licensing and out-licensing active ingredients, technology platforms, and products
Responsible for monitoring marketplace intelligence related to 1) competitors, their products and marketing programs; 2) trends, threats and market opportunities; 3) customer expectations; and 4) any other events/activities potentially affecting opportunities for Terramera
Product development:
Responsible for leading all Product Development activities in Terramera’s Crop Care business unit
Lead the hiring and professional development of Crop Care Product Development organization
Responsible for leading all marketing activities in Terramera’s Crop Care business unit
Lead product development field trialing program for all indications, including fungicides, insecticides, nematicides, and herbicides, in addition to Crop Enhancement products
Product Performance field trials – evaluating and validating efficacy, crop safety, yield & quality)
Agronomic Optimization grower trials – development of Best Use Guidelines
Conduct with CROs, growers, and distribution partners R&D teams
Provide technical field support (product/agronomic)
Collaborate with R&D team, providing field input and guidance for requisite features and specifications of new commercial products, in addition to input for core R&D activities
Establish Minimal Viable Product (MVP) plans and pipeline priorities – product needs and requirements for formulation enhancement & development
Identify candidate actives, formulation opportunities, partner products
Develop and implement go-to-market plans for product and market segments
Hire and manage all staff in this area (product managers, project managers)
Establish customer engagement and customer feedback loops into all key company divisions
Manage/oversee ecosystem partner relationships including potential partnership opportunities
Requirements:
Master of Science (specializing in agronomy, plant breeding, crop & soil science or related field)
Minimum of 15 years of agronomics, product development, brand marketing and sales experience in the Crop Protection, Seed and Crop Nutrition industry
Proven experience bringing products to market and managing product lines of $100M+ in sales volume
Minimum of 20 years of experience working in the US agriculture industry, having broad crop knowledge in both row crops and specialty crops in multiple geographies
International experience to include commercial experience in India
Experience running divisions and leading operational functions
Business acumen and ability to strategically analyze global reaching factors and summarize into concise, creative plans to reach financial goals
Experience working in both small start-up company environment and Big 6 ag environment
Adept at working in a rapid-pace environment and taking on multiple functional responsibilities
Position requires extensive travel (50-60%) and must be able and willing to travel throughout USA and globally
Preferred:
Global agriculture knowledge and experience, especially India
International experience to include commercial experience in South America
Extensive start-up experience
Crop Protection business acumen
Strong agronomic knowledge

Salary: $150,000.00 /year
