The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full time Superintendent of Transit Service Delivery.

Reporting to the Manager of Transit Operations, the Superintendent will be responsible for the delivery and supervision of conventional transit.  Duties will include recommending, preparing and implementing policies and procedures required for the safe and efficient operation of Transit services; assisting with long and short term transit planning; coaching and supporting transit drivers on the rules, regulations and safety practices; monitoring transit radio communication; monitoring transit exchanges and properties; responding to route, scheduling and mechanical problems; assisting with operational projects relating to on road transit performance and transit ridership; responding to customer complaints; assisting with the planning and supervision for scheduling and assigning duties to employees; assisting with the supervision of HandyDART Drivers.  Develop and implement ongoing training and safety programs.  Participate in accident and incident investigations.

Qualifications include an undergraduate degree or a three-year technical program certificate or diploma in business administration or a related field, plus a minimum of five years of related experience in the operation of a public transit system, combined with a minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
