Coastal Transport Limited (Coastal) is expanding its management team to provide for a “Manager of Quality Control” in its ferry services.

For 50 years Coastal has been providing passenger ferries services in New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy.  With its head office in Saint John, New Brunswick, Coastal manages a fleet of 5 ferries in its Grand Manan, White Head, and Deer Island ferry services.

Coastal is seeking an individual with a background in Quality Management to join its senior management team in directing and monitoring the company`s Integrated Management System and Operating Procedures.

Coastal is ISM (International Safety Management) certified and ISO compliant.

Having a demonstrated experience in the practical application of quality management, the successful applicant should have core competencies in other key areas which Coastal can use to enhance Company operations.  Marine background in engineering, electrical, or vessel operations is considered an asset.  Non-marine engineering or professional accounting backgrounds are also considered assets.  Resumes should highlight Quality related experience as well as other qualifications in the desired areas listed.

The incumbent will have overall responsibility for the Company’s Integrated Management System (IMS), as well as audit, compliance, and training functions.

Responsibilities would include:

reviewing reporting requirements and making sure they are met;
working with staff to establish quality requirements in all areas of Coastal`s operations;
making sure that ferry service processes meet regulatory and contractual standards;
defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff;
setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures;
monitoring corrective actions for items at variance with company standards;
monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports;
making suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them.
