The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is the regional government serving the approximate 30,000 residents of the Sunshine Coast. Bordered by rugged mountains on one side and the Georgia Strait on the other, the Sunshine Coast is situated on a peninsula between Howe Sound and Jervis Inlet in the traditional territory of the Sechelt and Squamish First Nations. The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is currently inviting applications for the position of full-time Purchasing Officer. Under the general direction of the Manager, Purchasing and Risk Management, the Purchasing Officer manages the purchase of goods and services for the Sunshine Coast Regional District and provides subject matter advice to staff on the full range of procurement and risk management activities.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade Twelve (12).
A Supply Chain Management Professional designation (SCMP) or similar supply chain education from a recognized education institution.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior level responsible for tendering, contract administration and preparation, assembling, publishing and awarding competitive procurements, and report writing.
OTHER SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Intermediate certification in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Must possess sound judgement, independent decision-making, problem solving and strong communication skills.
Ability to work within deadlines, handle multiple tasks and successfully meet challenges.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public, maintaining a strong customer focus.
This is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $34.93 per hour (UNDER REVIEW) and includes a full benefit package upon the successful completion of a four month probationary period with the SCRD.
