Job Description: Purchasing Agent
The role of purchasing agent (NOC 1225) encompasses a variety of tasks to be completed in a timely and efficient manner. The purchasing agent is required to negotiate price and delivery with vendors for the purchase of highly specialized computer parts, while setting priorities and maintaining production timelines and requirements. Understand the proper procedures and requirements for exporting and prepare all necessary export documentation. Prepare and issue customer invoices. Maintain production inventory levels with monthly reports. Supervise the shipping and receiving department.
Qualifications:
Education
Post-secondary education and Bachelor’s Degree focused on supply chain management, business, logistics and/or related field, required.
Skills / Experience Requirements
Must have 4+ years of logistics and purchasing experience.
Proven knowledge and application of ISO 9001:2008 QA standards, required.
Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VBA), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.
Knowledge of computers and electronics, an asset.
Organizational skills to effectively process all paperwork, including invoices, purchase orders, export documents and reports, required.
Must have strong communication skills to confidently explain information and converse with management, clients and vendors.
Self-confidence to take the initiative to negotiate price, delivery, volume discounts and etc. with vendors and evaluate them continuously.
Ability to work under pressure, meeting strict timelines.
Ability to work independently with attention to details.
Achievement-motivated to work with all departments to set and surpass company targets.
