BC Transit is a provincial crown corporation and coordinates the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused transit services in British Columbia outside of the Greater Vancouver region. Working in partnership with local governments and private companies, BC Transit provides direct services in fleet acquisition and management, contract administration, transit planning, marketing and financial services.
This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria (regional population 330,000) is the capital of British Columbia and a community of choice for many, due to our temperate climate, natural beauty and diverse economic opportunities. Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry and cruise ships.
Job Description:
Purchases and issues a variety of materials, parts and services for BC Transit’s provincial fleet including the Victoria, Langford and Regional Transit Centres. Coordinates and arranges all transportation logistics (ground, sea, air) to achieve an expeditious delivery of materials, parts and services including providing the necessary information to import and export goods and parts. Conducts cost analysis and resolves receiving and billing discrepancies. Creates and maintains the material and inventory master records. In partnership with other Supply Services Team Members, contributes to the initial content, revision and implementation of Responsibility Matrix (RAM) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Works collaboratively with team members engaged in purchasing, issuing, receiving and inventory support duties.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 graduation plus the equivalent of two years post-secondary education including courses in word processing, spreadsheets, database management and completion of Supply Management Training Diploma program.
2 years recent experience in a computerized purchasing and inventory control environment acquiring skills in researching and obtaining quotations from suppliers, monitoring re-order levels
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience managing vendor contracts and relationships
