Property Inspector – Stanley Mutual Insurance – Stanley, Flexible, New Brunswick

The Nunavut Housing Corporation, a Crown Corporation of the Government of Nunavut, is seeking qualified applicants for Housing Association Manager on behalf of a Local Housing Association located in Nunavut. Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) oversees social and staff housing through partnerships with Local Housing Organizations (LHOs) in all Nunavut communities. Each LHO is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all social and staff housing units in their community under the terms of a Management Agreement with NHC. The Manager reports to the Board of Directors of the LHO and is responsible for the full accounting cycle as well as personnel, maintenance, budgeting, Board relations and administrative functions of the LHO. The Manager supervises the administration and maintenance staff and acts as Secretary to the Board of Directors. Support is provided to the Manager by NHC staff in the areas of Finance, Maintenance, Board relations and Administration.

Stanley Mutual Insurance Company is searching for a Full Time Property Inspector. Established in 1937, Stanley Mutual is the largest of four New Brunswick formed and based Mutual Insurance Companies providing home, farm and liability insurance. Head Office is located in Stanley, New Brunswick and the company is represented by 14 Agents and Brokers across the Counties of Gloucester, Northumberland, York, Sunbury and Charlotte.

Under the direction of the Head Office Underwriting Leader, the Property Inspector works in the field to perform loss control surveys of member’s homes.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Completing safety and loss prevention surveys of homes throughout the trading territory,
Making recommendations on risk reduction and loss prevention,
Submitting full reports to the Underwriting Leader,
Providing advice to homeowners on loss prevention methods,

This person must possess the following skills and attributes:

Be able to work independently in a mainly unsupervised manner,
Work with a high level of integrity and be extremely client focused,
Be a strong self-starter,
Have a high level of fact finding ability as well as be able to complete tasks in timely manner,
Have a valid driver’s license,
Have flexible availability to respond to clients schedules,

Education and Qualifications:

Technical certification in one or more trades is an asset,
Have in depth knowledge of building construction and systems,
Have a working knowledge of property and liability insurance,
Bilingualism is an asset,
No criminal record.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
