Project Manager, Markets / Public Events – Evergreen – Toronto, Ontario

Evergreen is a charity that inspires action to green cities. Evergreen strives to solve pressing urban environmental issues by bringing people together, inspiring them with possibilities and engaging them in identifying solutions and taking action.

The primary focus being on Farmer’s Market, Markets, and Public Events at Evergreen Brick Works. They will be responsible for project management and facilitation. Working with team leaders to support Evergreen Brick Works programming, marketing and outreach strategies.

Responsibilities

Project development and delivery of Farmer’s Market, Markets, and Public Events.
Develop relationships with external parties to collaborate on the planning, funding and delivery of selected projects
Provide communications team with project information as required; support the development of promotional materials
Support program tracking, evaluation and progress against Evergreen’s strategic objectives
Track expenses and manage project budgets
Support program fundraising, including contributions to grant proposals and reports
Represent Evergreen at public events related to the Evergreen Brick Works portfolio
Create and Implement process improvements
Participate in emergency management planning and support flood preparation, evacuation and clean-up activities as needed
Support public event/program coordination and effective delivery on site, working closely with events staff to support events
Supervise interns and volunteers as required

Guidelines:

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

A post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience
1 – 3 years’ work experience in event management, program delivery, project management or similar;
Excellent computer skills (MS Office), social media skills, and familiarity with databases;
Interest in/knowledge of environmental issues with emphasis Farmers’ Markets, Public Markets and food systems issues.
Strong leadership skills, highly organized, creative and self-motivated
Excellent conflict management skills
Ability to work with individuals of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities

Asset

Previous experience managing Farmer Markets, Markets, and Public Events
Experience in food service management / Food Handling Certification
Experience working with volunteers.
Additional languages

Working conditions:

Standing for extended periods of time.
Lifting heavy objects on a regular basis (able to set up and move tables or tents as needed)
Able to work weekends and evenings.

Terms of contract:

Contract Full Time 1 year contract
