The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible for managing the overall operations of the Village of Bible Hill Recreation Services.
Parks and Recreation Director
Reporting to the Clerk and Treasurer, the successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of implementing recreational programs and services, special events and recreation facilities. The Director will be responsible to assist in developing, implementing and meeting annual objectives, goals, and vision for the department. This successful candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
The Director will be responsible for the establishment of objectives, priorities and long-range goals to meet community needs for recreation programs and services within Bible Hill. One of the primary responsibilities for this position is to establish and maintain liaisons with various community groups and organizations in matters pertaining to recreation and program development in Bible Hill. This is established by partnerships with external regional community groups and/or organizations that promote recreation.
The successful candidate must be familiar with coordinating and promoting awareness and participation in recreation programs and services, special events and utilizing facilities. This entails collaborating with neighboring municipalities in the development of facilities and in the delivery of recreation services, programs and special events; including trail and active transportation strategies.
This position is responsible for the hiring, training, skills development, and performance assessment of recreation seasonal program employees. The Director is accountable to monitor and manage expenditures within the Parks and Recreation budget and recommend purchasing for the Parks and Recreation Department within the Village Purchasing Policy. The successful candidate will assist other Village staff with the development of grants, sponsorships, and community partnership to support recreation services, programs and not for profit organizations.
Above all, the successful candidate must have the ability to interact efficiently with residents and staff at the Village, must exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills, along with the ability to work constructively in a team environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Recreation and/or post secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent numbers of work experience years in the field.
Knowledge of municipal government and legislation related to municipal parks and recreation.
Ability to perform human resource, budget and project management functions.
Experience with a broad range of computer software application, including Mac systems.
Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check, drivers abstract and a child abuse registry check.
Remuneration
Salary Scale – $42,997 – $52,985
