The Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia (ECEBC) is a not-for-profit organization that enhances early childhood educators’ ability to be a strong voice for the profession. It influences society to value children and childhood and to respect the professionals who care for and educate children.
ECEBC has been advancing early childhood education and care since 1969. This fast paced organization constantly strives to remain current and responsive to current trends in our sector. Since 2010, with our sister partner the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC, ECEBC has been driving the Community Plan for a Public System of Integrated Early Care and Learning, otherwise known as the $10 a Day Child Care Plan in British Columbia. The Plan itself has the possibility to make a real difference in the lives of children, families and our society. This grassroots movement boasts support of two million people and the momentum continues to build.
Decades of evidence and research has proven why high quality experiences are important for children. ECEBC strives to bring this knowledge to community while building the capacity of the sector to have a strong voice regarding the importance of their professional work.
The Membership & Engagement Coordinator position will be a key point of contact between ECEBC, its members, the sector and community. This role is an integral part of the leadership team that consists of the office collective and the ECEBC Board of Directors, and will specifically grow and transform ECEBC’s Social Enterprise. To help us strengthen this work, the ideal candidate will add expertise with strong engagement, membership outreach and marketing skills.
The Membership & Engagement Coordinator will keep member satisfaction the focal point of their work, helping ECEBC to stand out and draw in the sector.
Hours of Work: This is a full time (35 hour per week) position, typically Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Head office is in Vancouver; flexible location will be considered for the right candidate. This position requires some evening and weekend work. Some travel is required.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Membership & Engagement Coordinator (the Coordinator) will contribute to the leadership and overall direction of the organization as it relates to external and internal communications strategies, and member engagement and retention. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to develop, implement and evaluate a member services, growth and marketing plan.
The Coordinator will produce materials for members and the public using internal resources; develop campaigns to recruit and retain membership in ECEBC; and manage the production (writing, design and distribution) of internal communications. The Coordinator will also be responsible for managing ECEBC’s external reputation, including:
the organization of designated events;
internal relations with members; and,
representing ECEBC at public networking (and branch) events.
Working with external consultants, board members, volunteers and other staff in this fast paced office collective, the Coordinator will ensure their work meets ECEBC’s high standards and adherence to budgets and deadlines.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an ECEBC provincial member in good standing and will have at least two of the following:
Donor relations experience.
Understanding and experience in charitable sector.
Ability to work effectively in databases.
Knowledge and experience of CRM and Marketing Automation Systems.
Experience working in a decentralized or provincial program.
Background in early childhood education.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, board, volunteers and other partners.
Strong marketing skills with an ability to design and conduct market research is a fundamental part of this role as is executing marketing plans.
Strong engagement experience.
Knowledge of current marketing, communications and public relations principles, practices and techniques.
Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle potentially difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to function professionally and pleasantly during periods of high stress.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several time-sensitive projects at any given time.
Knowledge and experience with developing plans.
Strong writing skills and grammar (English).
Works well within a fast paced office collective.
Knowledge and understanding of ECEBC’s program and services.
Excellent planning and organization skills with a strong attention to detail.
Strong public speaking skills.
Membership and community engagement experience.
Compensation:
Salary $38,000 – $40,000 range.
Compensation package includes MSP, 4% RRSP plus 2% in lieu of other benefits.
