Job Description
Paddle Canada is looking for a full-time Media and Markets Co-ordinator to coordinate Paddle Canada’s media channels and market building initiatives. The ideal candidate will be able to leverage Paddle Canada’s community of approximately 2,000 canoe, kayak and SUP instructors and nearly 50,000 paddlers to grow our digital media presence, marketing initiatives and the PaddleSmart project.

SPECIFIC TASKS
Planning and Organization
Develop a communication plan to engage with members and partners for the purpose of sourcing digital content such as blogs, articles, videos, and photographs for use by Paddle Canada (PC).
Organizing, storing, crediting and editing such content as needed for future sharing across various media channels.
Social / Digital Media
Manage and edit content posting of all social media feeds (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram).
Source content from variety of sources, including members, suppliers and third parties for use permitted use by PC with license.
Design websites using WordPress and other CMS.
Post, and occasionally create, blog posts.
Use of Canva.com for the creation of visual content.
Use of digital analytics platforms to track social media engagement and effectiveness.
Coordinate online contests and product giveaways.
Kanawa (Print Publication)
Source, edit and coordinate content for Kanawa four times per year. Kanawa is Paddle Canada’s section published in four Rapid Media magazines quarterly.
Communicate deadlines to all contributors.

Advertising, Sponsorships and Market Building Initiatives
Coordinate projects such as market research, digital product sales (e.g., Market Reports), contests, giveaways, etc.
Sales (cold-calling/cold-emailing and following-up).
Recording and managing client information.
DESIRED SKILLS AND PROFILE
Independent, hard-working, hungry, keen to develop new skills and knowledge.
Client and market oriented (demonstrated ability to anticipate client needs and expectations).
Strong business senses (ability to identify, originate and execute on opportunities).
Professional (exceptional spelling and grammar; demonstrated judgement and professionalism).
Marketing/sales experience, preferably web or social media based.
Customer service experience (exceptional phone and email skills).
Paddlesports or outdoor experience preferred (camp or guiding experience sufficient).
Eye for design (we use platforms such as Canva.com that makes designing non-technical, but the ideal candidate still must have an instinct for good design).
Ability to quickly learn new online platforms, apps and programs as needed.
Experience building websites with WordPress or similar CMS strongly preferred.
Standard expectations for 2016 (e.g., excellent use of Microsoft Office and other cloud products).
EDUCATION
University degree strongly preferred (any field).
LANGUAGE
English fluency required.
Exceptional grammar and writing required.
Fluency in French considered a strong asset.
TERM
Full time hours. February 1, 2016 to Dec 31, 2016.
COMPENSATION
$20,000 plus 25% commission on marketing, advertising or market research sales.
