Job Posting – Full Time Position
Position: Marketing and Communications Officer
The Town of Amherst is seeking a motivated individual to execute and support promotions, marketing, advertising & special events. The position will focus on web-site content creation, maintenance & updating. Improving & strengthening digital communications strategies while supporting current & future social media platforms. Develop & implement high-quality visuals across all print mediums including publication management and advertising image usage. Coordination & support for sanctioned events and activities. The position will report directly to the Director of Recreation.
Key Deliverables:
Help execute Internal & external communications, develop print and promotional materials
Write for a variety of audiences and communication tools, including web, print, social media, presentations and media communications
Manage website content and updates
Event coordination for events such as Canada Day, Cops for Kids, Border Town Biker Bash, Blueberry Harvest Festival
Collaborate with and support Town staff
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
University degree/Community College Diploma in marketing, advertising, sales, or business administration, or equivalent experience
Original writing and editing and some public relations would be preferable.
Past experience in coordination and implementing activities for major events or festivals would be an asset to the position.
An understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
Demonstrated proficiency in Internet marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable
Experience with Adobe Image Ready / Photoshop / Pagemaker / Content Management Systems / MS Word and Excel, and social media applications
Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
