Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator – Coquitlam Farmers Market – Coquitlam, British Columbia

The Coquitlam Farmers Market Society is seeking applications for the Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator position in our organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for the promotion of all areas of the Coquitlam Farmers Market Society – farmers markets, community garden, and implementation of special events.

Responsibilities of this position include:

Creating a marketing plan outlining special events and promotional activities including: marketing and educational initiatives
Organizing and implementing large special events at farmers markets
Creating event posters and promotional materials
Maintaining social media presence – website blog, instagram, twitter, facebook
Writing and distributing press releases
Writing a monthly newsletter
Maintaining CFM website – including weekly blog posts, events calendar, and vendor profiles
Coordinating a consistent look and feel on all CFM material
Attending community events to promote the CFM in the community
Responding to general inquiries and maintaining media binder
Attends farmers market to host large special events, and to assist with holiday relief

We are looking for someone with the following skills:

Degree in marketing and / or communications, or is currently taking courses in this field
Familiar with WordPress or similar website management system
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Self directed, reliable, and responsible
Detail orientated with ability to mulit-task
Diplomatic nature, can handle simple conflict situations with sensitivity
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Publisher)
Can lift up to 10 kg of equipment
Valid BC drivers license and regular access to an automobile

The ideal candidate will also have the following characteristics:

Is creative, fun and enjoys being part of a team
Has previous marketing and special event experience
Has an interest in the local food movement, food security issues, and community development
Familiarity with the Tri-Cities area an asset
Has experience or is familiar with the not-for-profit sector

Term of Contract:

April – November – higher proportion of workload; November to March – lower proportion of workload. Compensation based on experience.
