HR / Communications Assistant – LlamaZOO Interactive – Victoria, BC

LlamaZOO Interactive is an award winning early stage startup with ambitious plans of bringing new technology to education. Our edTech platform allows students to study through interactive 3D content, and provides educators powerful tools to give more engaging lectures. We’re growing, and looking to hire an HR and Communications Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for a motivated co-op student to help us with our HR and communications starting in early-mid April until August with a flexible start date to accommodate orientation and training session in the first two weeks of April. The successful candidate will be a self starter with a “can do” attitude and an eagerness to learn.

What you will be doing:

Act as first line of contact in the recruitment process
Manage incoming job applications and job postings
Perform initial candidate resume pre-screening and screening interview
Relay advancing applicants to supervisor for following interviews
Track and manage all applicant data in the CRM
Create and execute initiatives to maintain and improve corporate culture
Identify areas of improvement in the recruitment and onboarding processes
Represent LlamaZOO at industry events, career fairs
Find ways to promote company in universities and in the tech community
Conduct market research on potential new customer bases
Assist in developing and executing the marketing strategy and marketing activities
Social media account management
Other business operations and projects as they arise

What skills and experience you should have:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Self-starter and takes initiative
Able to work independently and self manage
Motivated and have a “can do” attitude
Basic understanding of HR practices
Relevant work or volunteer experience

*Previous experience in an HR role is considered an asset
