About Fresh City
Fresh City delivers farm fresh food to thousands in Toronto each week. We farm right in the city and partner with local growers and makers to deliver a healthy food experience. In four short years, we have become one of Toronto’s top online grocers, the largest city farm in Canada and are growing rapidly.
Fresh City has been recognized in three documentaries, hundreds of media articles and has received several awards including a LiveGreen Toronto Award and Premier Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.
About the Position
We are looking to enhance and expand our community presence. In particular, we would like to reinvigorate our pickup location network. We currently have more than 50 locations where our members pickup their produce and recipe bags. We would like to expand this network. More importantly, we want to create a unique experience that delights our members in order to increase retention, order value and more pickups per location.
You would be the main architect of this program, from strategizing where we should focus geographically, to what the partnership with the pickup location looks like, to how we interface with our members at the locations. You will work directly with our Marketing Manager to maintain branding and messaging consistency across all locations.
In addition, this position would be responsible for managing community events ranging from tabling opportunities at companies or schools, to exhibiting at large consumer shows (Toronto Veg Fest, Green Living Show, etc).
This position would report directly to the CEO and Marketing Manager.
About You
You are hands on. You know that sitting at a computer doing research and drawing up blueprints is vital, but that you can’t beat going out and talking to existing and potential members and partners.
You are outgoing. Instagram is fun but nothing excites you more than having a conversation with a real-life human. You are energized by meeting and talking to people.
You are a problem solver. We are a values-based and rapidly growing business in an ultra-competitive space. That means we have to be nimble and use our resources wisely. You embrace the challenge rather then being discouraged by it.
You are a team player. Prepping, seeding, tending, watering, weeding, harvesting, marketing, packing and delivering are not all done by one person — it takes a whole team working together to succeed. You play nice.
Experience
Given the nature of this position, we do not have a rigid list of criteria that a candidate must possess. That said, any of the following type of experience would certainly be an asset:
Sales and/or marketing experience
Food retail
Seasonal, organic and local food
Creating and sustaining partnerships
Generating leads and following up
Schedule & Compensation
This position will ideally start as soon as the hiring process ends. The position will be full time. Given the nature of the position, you can expect there to be some evening and weekend work. We pay a competitive salary with health/dental benefits as well as a free produce bag.
