Evaluation and Communications Manager – FoodShare Toronto – Toronto, Ontario

FoodShare Toronto is looking for a fulltime, passionate, Evaluation and Communications Manager to manage a one-year food sector evaluation and communication project. The Evaluation and Communications Manager will have robust expertise in nonprofit evaluation, web design, social media, promotional material development, an understanding of the nonprofit food sector, a strong approach to shared leadership, and passion for strengthening the impact of Ontario’s nonprofit sector.

Job Requirements

Engagement of FoodShare staff, board and volunteers and nonprofits in Toronto participating in community food work to gather best practices, assess gaps and create evaluation processes, including but not limited to creating tools to measure, gather data, and disseminate information.
Build capacity for, implement and manage internal systems for conducting ongoing outcomes measurement and assessment.
Consolidate all current tools and practices for measuring impact to ensure cohesive, consistent, high quality data collection and analysis.
Coordinate with communications and IT staff on the development and implementation of a centralized assessment database at FoodShare and produce online resource tools for the nonprofit sector.
Manage the design and implementation of a strategic evaluation plan that measures progress and success against key metrics for both internal program improvement purposes as well as for external reporting purposes.
Manage the development of communication tools developed through this project.
Work closely with partner organizations to ensure consensus on evaluation framework and support the shared evaluation deliverables.
Manage all administrative aspects of research and evaluation, including budget, staffing, data collection logistics and other related duties as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

A post-graduate degree in evaluation, social science, public policy or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years successful experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, tool design and validation.
Food project and/or neighbourhood-based organizing experience and food justice initiatives.
Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Experience in external communications such as the creation of web-based tools, social media, design and dissemination.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change processes in an organization.
Demonstrated ability to forge productive and healthy collaborations.
Exceptional project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget.
Keen analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to take initiative.
Willingness to travel in the GTA and work evenings and weekends, as projects demand it.
Experience developing and managing work plans as well as training, supervising, and developing staff, interns and volunteers.
Ability to think “big picture” as well as to translate ideas into realistic, actionable plans.

Hours and Compensation

5 days a week, 37.5 hours, $50,000/year with benefits. This is a one-year contract, with potential for longer term employment, based on funding. April 27, 2015 – April 25, 2016.
