Emergency Services Coordinator
The Regional District of East Kootenay is seeking an experienced and energetic individual to coordinate and support the RDEK’s emergency programs and services. Reporting to the Building & Protective Services Manager, the Emergency Services Coordinator performs a variety of work related to all emergency services including overall coordination of: emergency response and recovery plans, fire and rescue services provided by volunteer fire departments, E911, and wildland/urban interface fire issues.
Your qualifications include:
Completion of Grade 12;
Completion of specified courses under the BC Emergency Response Management System (BCERMS) training program (see job description);
British Columbia Driver’s Licence;
2 years experience coordinating an emergency response and recovery program;
3 years experience working with fire and rescue services;
Thorough knowledge of the operation of volunteer fire departments and the principles, practices, and objectives of emergency planning and fire and rescue services;
Thorough knowledge and proficiency in the operation of MS Office Suite;
Ability to work on call and in emergency situations after hours; and
Outstanding leadership and communication skills.

This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) Union position with a starting salary of $5,104 per month ($33.65/hour).
