Director of Development – Landmark East School – Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Landmark East is an independent not-for-profit school offering grades 3 through 12, for students with special learning needs.  Both day and boarding students experience a premiere academic environment with individualized student-teacher ratios as well as excellent opportunities for personal growth.

The Director of Development will report to the Headmaster of the School and will have responsibility for planning, implementing and directing the total spectrum of fundraising activities for Landmark East School.  The Director will work closely with the Foundation and Association Board members of Landmark East to foster strong relationships among Board members and with the community at large.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Developing strategies and goals for all fundraising initiatives;
Planning and directing annual, capital, endowment and event appeals;
Coordinating the stewardship of donors and other stakeholders;
Managing the database, including records and data for the school’s constituents;
Promoting the vision, strategies and goals of the School;
Building teams of stakeholders for fundraising, promotion, alumni and community relations.

Qualifications:

A passion for the vision, mission and goals of Landmark East School;
Proven experience in fundraising, campaign planning, communication and team leadership;
Able to function as part of a team;
Ability to work well with volunteers and to build and maintain strong relationships;
A goal and task-orientated professional, capable of working with limited support staff;
Experience in annual and major gift fundraising, with emphasis on cultivation, strategy and solicitation;
CFRE designation would be an asset;
University degree preferred;
Minimum of five years related experience.
