Community Education Coordinator
Nova Scotia Division | Permanent Full-Time | Location: Halifax
Role Profile:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Atlantic Region, the Community Education Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing educational programs that support people with arthritis across Nova Scotia. Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading all educational programs including training, implementation and evaluation; developing and implementing short and long-range tactical plans within the division’s many communities; and overseeing recruitment, training, engagement and retention of volunteers to deliver our mission-focused programs. He/she will assist the Executive Director in the preparation, monitoring and execution of an operational budget and will design and implement education programs within the context of The Society’s mandate and guiding principles.
Required Skills and Experience:
Our ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in the area of education or health, with at least 3 to 5 years related experience preferably gained within a non-profit environment. He/she will have demonstrated success in, and a passion for, leading, motivating and maximizing the performance of volunteers. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive partnerships both internally (with regional and nationwide colleagues) and externally (across Halifax). A high degree of initiative, self motivation and integrity are key to this role, as are well-developed time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in a wide range of computer skills including Microsoft Office is essential. Our ideal candidate is adaptable with a willingness to be flexible and versatile within a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel will be required.
