Fraser Riverkeeper (FRK) is currently hiring for a Communications, Operations and Development Manager to implement educational, engagement and volunteer programs, lead in grant writing, fundraising and donor relations, assist in planning special fundraising events as well as manage day-to-day office administration.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is a full-time position for a passionate, multi-talented and flexible individual capable of working independently and collaboratively in a variety of capacities to fulfill FRK’s conservation mission.
The Communications, Operations and Development Manager will work closely with the Riverkeeper (Campaign Director) and report to the Executive Director on program and campaign implementation, working on the ground when needed to ensure programs run smoothly and efficiently.
As the first point of contact at FRK, the Communications, Operations and Development Manager must be outgoing, passionate, willing to take on a variety of tasks and be eager to be a part of a swimmable, drinkable, fishable future.
Position Requirements:
Desire to help protect BC’s beaches, rivers, and water bodies — experience in water recreation (swimming/paddling/surfing/fishing) and basic knowledge of local water quality concerns a plus
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit management, fundraising, grant writing and effective communication skills absolutely necessary
Experience with event planning/coordination for large fundraising events an asset
Proven ability to create and effectively manage project and program budgets
Strong connection to the community (through volunteer roles, interests/activities outside of work)
Design, create and manage Fraser Riverkeeper’s social media presence, promotion and ad campaigns (engage in dialogue with followers, create infographics, photos, contests). Experience developing a successful social media strategy a plus
Demonstrated success with effectively managing employees and engaging volunteers
Self-directed, self-motivated, organized and flexible
Experience using Nation Builder or other CRM an asset
Proficiency in MS Suite including Excel, and comfortable using Google Docs
Experience using programs from Adobe Creative Suite Cloud including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a plus
Basic knowledge of QuickBooks preferred
Class 5 BC Drivers License, access to a vehicle a plus
Required Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, environment and sustainability, political science, or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
A minimum 2 years of experience in organizational leadership, project management and/or fundraising (can include relevant volunteer roles)
