Communications and Education Coordinator
As an environmental start-up, CFI demonstrates how permaculture, organic agriculture, sustainable forestry and alternative energy can be used to fight climate change and rebuild rural economies in the process. The Communications and Education Coordinator will work with the Community Forests International (CFI) team to help share the organization’s work in fostering rural innovation through action.
The position will involve facilitating CFI’s public events in addition to creating videos, print material and web-based media to communicate our work. The organization is looking for a highly motivated individual capable of thinking outside of the box in a dynamic not-for profit work environment.
Qualifications:
Must be a full-time student returning to school full-time in the fall
Experience coordinating events and activities
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Experience with video, print and web-based media
Experience with environmental work and/or outdoor work
Background in Science or Environmental studies is an asset
Responsibilities:
Promote workshops and manage event registration
Write blog posts, press releases and social media updates
Help maintain Permaculture food forest and native tree nursery
Support other organizational projects as required
General Office work and administration
Details:
Start Date: May 11th 2015
End Date: July 12th 2015
Duration: 10 weeks
Compensation: $12/hour at 35 hours per week
