B2B Manager – GLOBE Series – Vancouver

The Job

This is a full time contract role from October 26 – March 18, 2016 based in Vancouver, Canada.

The B2B Manager will be responsible for engaging GLOBE 2016 participants and managing key elements the GLOBE 2016 business to business (B2B) activities before and during the GLOBE 2016 event. This includes the conference’s B2B software environment (http://www.pathable.com) and activities designed to maximize the transactional value of the GLOBE 2016 Innovation Expo (see below).

The core of this role is to identify and secure appropriate buyers to attend the GLOBE Innovation Expo, help work with groups that can facilitate technology suppliers in the cleantech space to participate as exhibitors, and create as many opportunities as possible to promote collaboration and networking between those two groups. Managing ‘speed dating’ activities, facilitating meetings, coordinating satellite events/presentations/workshops/challenge-pitch activities at the Innovation Expo designed to enhance participation of each of the parties.

The successful candidate will be required to coordinate with the conference management team and support staff as well as sponsors, partners, exhibitors, buyers and conference delegates. A great attitude and ability to work as part of a dynamic team, as well as enthusiasm to pitch in where necessary for the betterment of the event is essential.

The role requires a person who is technology saavy and a good administrator. A solid understanding of business transactions with the clean tech industry (buyer and supplier), exceptional interpersonal skills, project management/coordination skills, and comfort working in a high-paced environment will also be key to success in this role.

The Details

Liaise with key partners to maximize the number of suppliers, buyers and investors that come to GLOBE
Engage technology incubators, accelerators, etc. to leverage their networks and get suppliers out to the event. This includes supporting the sales team (passing leads, identifying potential exhibitors, etc.).
Engage industry associations, corporations and other industry organizations to identify and recruit buyers in conjunction with database coordinator and International sales representative. Priority areas of focus include – oil and gas, mining and forestry sectors followed by food, transportation, buildings and municipalities.
i. Canadian buyers
ii. US and Mexican buyers
iii. International buyers

    Help identify and secure sponsorship for key B2B properties including for example:
B2B software
Specific transactional initiatives
Presentation Theatre
Investor Forum, etc.
Assist in the design and delivery of key B2B activities as noted above and/or might be developed with partners. For example, this could include:
Investors Den (Dragon’s Den)
Workshops
Speed Dating
Related satellite and side events (e.g Food Summit)
Implement and manage the development, rollout and execution of the B2B/participant networking software and App (see pathable.com)
Ensuring all aspects of functionality are performing and understood by those using it
Liaising with companies and GLOBE staff to ensure profiles are included for all participating suppliers, buyers and delegates
Generate reports from the software, analyze and take actions based on results to maximize the utility of the software for buyers and suppliers to complete transactions
Work with VP of Operations and on-site logistics staff to ensure the B2B activities all run smoothly (e.g., Challenge-Pitch) before, during and potentially after the event
Liaise regularly with the COO, VP of Operations, and Registration and Sales Team
Contribute to Marketing Material such as video production, blogging and social media as required
Support the development of proposals to sponsors or partners
