POSITION SUMMARY

REPORTING TO THE MANAGER, ACCOUNTS PAYABLE, THE SUPERVISOR, ACCOUNTS PAYABLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPERVISING A TEAM OF CLERKS IN A HIGH-VOLUME ENVIRONMENT. THIS ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THE ACCURATE, TIMELY AND EFFICIENT PAYMENT OF ALL VENDOR ACCOUNTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH TCH POLICIES AND DEPARTMENT STANDARDS AND FOR TROUBLESHOOTING DAY-TO-DAY
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE OPERATIONS.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily review of accounts payable transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with TCH policies and procedures
Review vendor account reconciliations performed by the accounts payable team
Participate in the development of all accounts payable control processes, recommending process improvements, and overseeing all process changes
Work with TCH departments and management to ensure that payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining service levels;
Oversee payment-related vendor management including maintaining and developing professional and courteous vendor relationships
Train, mentor, coach and develop the accounts payable team
Ensure proper maintenance of associated accounting records and supplier files in accordance with TCH’s document retention policy
Prepare month end journal entries and GL reconciliations
Perform all other duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

Post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in business! accounting or finance
Professional accounting designation considered an asset (CPA, CGA, CMA)
5+ years of related experience in supervisory Accounts Payable positions. Supervisory experience in a union environment is preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Advanced level technical skills using Excel and MS office tools
Strong interpersonal skills with strong oral and writlen communication skills;
Excellent client service and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to deal with all levels including senior staff
Proven ability to work well under pressure and light deadlines.
