Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of compensation to employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments within the legislative requirements outline by CRA, and other governing agencies. Maintains confidentiality of information provided. A specialist on Revenue Canada Regulations, Employment Standards, Employment Insurance, Provincial Health Tax, and Visions policies and procedures and ensures payroll in processed within these guidelines.

Specific Accountabilities:
Accountable for system implementation, day to day payroll activities and year end deliverables such as producing tax forms and filing with CRA, EHT and WCB boards
Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors, oversaw and made sure that payroll processes were operating in compliance with all internal/external audit requirements
To perform various supervisory functions including hiring, training, coaching, assignment of daily work activities and performance management.
Supervise clerks engaged in compiling, preparing, processing the payroll information to produce timely and accurate payments for 1,000 + employees
Responsible to manage and guarantee accurate weekly and biweekly disbursement of payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and respective state wage and hour laws
Responsible for the managing all applicable regulatory mandated deductions including wage assignments, garnishments and properly recording/reporting to all interested parties.
Drive payroll process excellence; analyze and recommend changes for improved accuracy and efficiency.
Manage regular preparation of relevant reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end close functions and reports, as well as periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions or as requested by management.
Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, state and federal agencies, and customers; respond timely to all verbal and written correspondence.
Prepare and distribute employee tax forms and Records of Employment
Execute cash flow analysis, financial statement, successfully maintaining weekly schedule of reporting and accurately balancing accounts
Audit expense reports according to internal company guidelines as well as federal and state guidelines
Document and respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies as required
Protect and maintain confidential information
Desired Skills and Experience
Completed College Degree or diploma in a related discipline (Accounting, Payroll and Finance) from a recognized post-secondary educational institution.
1-2 Years progressive experience is required, in an accounting and payroll environment; employment sector is an asset
Hands-on QuickBooks experience, specifically with Payroll and Time & Labour modules is required
Completion of Canadian Payroll certification (PCP)
Demonstrated competency with Microsoft office tools
Ability to manage team priorities in a payroll production environment to ensure accuracy and meeting timelines
Extensive, in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of legislation, labour contracts particularly compensation provisions of Collective Agreements, Administrative Terms & Conditions of Employment, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Insurance Act, and relevant Revenue Canada regulations
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills in order to identify problems, and select appropriate action
