Job Description:
Maintain confidentiality of all personnel records and information contained therein.
Provide comprehensive and timely information to all employees regarding Payroll & Benefits as requested, at employment commencement and on an ongoing and educational basis. Prepare & implement information sessions for staff on the benefits programs.
Attain proficiency with KIS Payroll system and working knowledge of all applicable legislation and TOHL Policies.
Control, prepare, verify and perform all payroll functions for Council, salaried and wage employees, including all benefits deductions & premiums.
Submit statutory deductions to C.R.A in a timely manner.
Track employee RRSPs and submit to financial institutions in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure all pay increases and/or additions are authorized and processed.
Balance all monthly & annual reports, i.e. Receiver General, employee insurance benefits, to GL liability accounts.
Prepare year-end reports and C.R.A. income tax reporting requirements (e.g. T4’s, T4A’s and summaries, etc.).
Prepare, maintain, and record monthly overtime, vacation, special leave, casual and general illness, and time in lieu reports.
Prepare, process and reconcile all required enrolment documents for all benefits.
Prepare and process employee terminations.
Provide year-to-date payroll reports, as requested.
Calculate and complete Workers Compensation Board annual returns and amendments.
Assist Directors with preparation of employment paperwork and human resource related issues; managing long services awards, birthday letters; performing wage grid surveys; preparing annual budget information.
Education Requirements:
Post secondary education related to accounting.
Completion of, or working towards, Payroll Administrator certification through the Canadian Payroll Association (website) or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Three years’ experience in a Payroll position and Human Resource functions.
Comprehensive knowledge of payroll requirements.
Good knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
Experience working in a team environment.
Desire a working knowledge of KIS Payroll software and Great Plains Diamond financial software or comparable financial software.
Hours of work are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Salary to be commensurate with experience & training (starting $24.94/per hour).
