Payroll & Benefits Administrator
The Vancouver Public Library is seeking an experienced payroll & benefits administrator to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the HR Director, you will be responsible for administering pay and benefits for all Library employees including: inputting and processing a variety of pay and benefit transactions; updating and communicating library practice and procedures relating to payroll and benefits; advising employees of benefit plan options and enrolling employees in benefit plans; calculating a variety of adjustments to pay and benefits; contacting agencies, such as WorkSafeBC and the City of Vancouver payroll department, as required to resolve and clarify pay and benefit issues; extracting data pertaining to benefits and payroll from the HRIS (SAP) to support the audit function and the preparation of reports to ensure data integrity. You will also assist with various administrative functions as part of the Human Resources team.

The successful candidate will have several years experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a unionized environment using an HRIS system such as SAP. Successful achievement of the PCP designation from the CPA (Canadian Payroll Association) is required and proficiency with a variety of software programs including Excel and Word, database applications (Access) and a computerized HRIS system (SAP preferred). Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters, ability to work independently and to exercise sound judgement, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
