As a Payroll Administrator you process payroll and exception time related to leaves, allowances and additional hours for over 400 employees. You will also ensure that all aspects of the payroll cycle are processed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with FNHA, union and government policies, terms and regulations. The Payroll Administrator reports to the Payroll Supervisor.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Successful completion of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
Successful completion of Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification is an asset
Relevant experience working as a payroll clerk (usually acquired over a 2 year period) using an Enterprise payroll system (PeopleSoft, SAP, JDEdwards)
Experience working with BC First Nations organizations in a financial capacity
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
Experience with union hourly payroll environment is an asset
Experience working with time and attendance systems is an asset
Knowledge & Abilities:
Knowledge of payroll theories, practices, legislation, resources and the Employment Standards Act
Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and principles
Knowledge of PeopleSoft (Oracle) Canadian Payroll desired with experience preferred with the HCM Release 9.2, and Time and Labour
Ability to carry out payroll procedures while exercising judgment, analysis and decision-making
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, data based software, email and web browsers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
