The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is the regional government serving the approximate 30,000 residents of the Sunshine Coast.  Bordered by rugged mountains on one side and the Georgia Strait on the other, the Sunshine Coast is situated on a peninsula between Howe Sound and Desolation Sound in the traditional territory of the Sechelt and Squamish First Nations.  Known for its mild winters, beautiful surroundings, arts, culture, and friendly people, the Sunshine Coast is not only a preferred tourist destination, it is a great place to live.

We are inviting qualified individuals to consider submitting an application for the position of Manager of Financial Services/Deputy Treasurer with the Sunshine Coast Regional District.  This managerial role is responsible to the Treasurer for overseeing the day-to-day administration of financial systems including payables/receivables, payroll, utility billing and cash receipting and for performing statutory financial administrative functions in the absence of the Treasurer.  A complete job description is available on our website at www.scrd.ca/employment.

As the ideal applicant, you are an enthusiastic, business-oriented professional with proven skills as an effective leader.  Able to drill down into the details, you are just as capable of seeing the big picture and collaborating with others to develop and nurture a shared vision.  Optimistic, results-focused, and committed to what you do, you know what it takes to empower a team to function effectively and to hold each other accountable for delivering excellent service.

During your career, you have obtained a relevant degree (CPA, CGA, CMA or CA) and have gained a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience, ideally in local government, along with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.  You have solid organizational skills and a working knowledge of public sector accounting and audit standards.  Working experience with Agresso software would be considered an asset.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

The SCRD offers a competitive salary and a full benefit package commensurate with experience. To apply for this unique opportunity, please include a current resume and a cover letter quoting the competition number and submit in confidence to Gerry Parker, Manager of Human Resources via email at: employment@scrd.ca by the closing date and time shown above.
