The Finance department of the Corporate and Community Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for Manager, Financial Services.  Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position offers 72 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as possible.

The Manager, Financial Services’ role is to lead and manage the Financial Services team in day to day financial activities, financial system management and customer service delivery. Responsibilities include; coordination of the year end audit and financial statement preparation, routine monthly financial reporting, development of annual tax bylaws and tax collection, oversight of AR and AP functions and, assisting senior management with financial policies, analysis and financial performance management. This role is also a bank signing officer for the municipality.

Qualified candidates will possess:

Professional accounting designation CPA (CGA, CA or CMA) and 5+ years’ experience in a similar leadership role. Experience in a local government environment considered an asset;
An understanding of statutorily required financial reporting and taxation by local government bodies;
Ability to lead and develop the Financial Services team in daily tasks, performance management and annual work planning;
Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement and maintain financial accounting, reporting and control systems;
Excellent working of knowledge of accounting systems in a multiuser, networked environment;
Ability to lead by example, demonstrating leadership, client service attitudes, integrity, creativity and enthusiasm in achieving results directly and through staff work teams;
Experience  managing departmental financial performance;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in the area of supporting accounting and finance related processes and policies for various audiences;
The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels; and
The ability to compile and analyze financial information to identify issues, trends and communicate results to various audiences.
