Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership in managing a small team of 5 people based in St John’s to define and deliver Business Information across the group.

Monthly internal reporting requires significant transformation in order to create a suite of relevant, reliable and timely management reports. Business Information will include relevant financial and non-financial metrics, and narratives focused on material operational and commercial issues delivered to the management team. Significant standardisation of information formats is required.

This individual is required to liaise closely with senior leaders, to source requirements, design output, capture data, and deliver information across the organization.

The role is varied and challenging, requiring cross-functional business leadership, hands on management to create a high-performing virtual team and a collaborative working style.

Sphere of influence

This role reports to the Group Financial Controller, who in turn reports to Chief Financial Officer of Inmarsat.

The individual will need to forge and maintain effective working relationships with senior management in the Finance teams of London and St. John’s Newfoundland, as well as being comfortable communicating with CEO/CFO levels.

Essential competencies

Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience working with senior management, chairing meetings on possibly contentious topics and doing presentations
Capable of distilling complicated analytical data and conclusions into clear and relevant messages, focused on their commercial implication
Systems literate, with experience of management information delivery and analysis tools

Essential knowledge and skills

A degree in Business Administration
Five years’ experience of supporting, managing and leading internal reporting
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage multiple and conflicting deadlines
Experience in a (Business Information) start up situation
Ability to forge a path through conflicting reporting requirements and prioritise accordingly
