The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic professional to fill the role of Manager, Economic Development. Reporting to the General Manager, Planning and Development, the Economic Development Manager is responsible for promoting strategic, and sustainable economic development, that is supportive of the creation and maintenance of investment and employment opportunities in the CVRD.

To succeed in this position, you will possess a university degree in business, public administration, commerce, marketing or economics and have a minimum of six years of experience in marketing and/or economic development.

You are an innovative, creative and strategic leader with an entrepreneurial philosophy and a results-oriented approach to business development. You are knowledgeable of economic development principles in a local government setting and understand the business planning function. You possess an innate ability to “sell” or promote ideas to stakeholders and the community.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of facilitating the development, management and implementation of all aspects of the operations of the Economic Development function including applications for funding, annual budget preparation, and reporting to the Board.

The job involves significant contact with the local business community, government and the public to support economic initiatives and business development. Your strong interpersonal skills and political acumen positions you to provide advocacy and support to the community.
