AuRico Gold Inc. (“the Company”) is a Canadian gold producer with mines and projects in North America. The Company’s operations include the Young-Davidson mine in Ontario, Canada and the El Chanate mine in Sonora, Mexico. The Company’s project pipeline also includes exploration and development opportunities in Canada and Mexico.
The Company, publicly traded on the Toronto and New York Stock exchanges, is seeking a Manager, Corporate Accounting to join their Corporate office in Halifax for a term position.
As a key member in the finance department, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will work closely with colleagues in the corporate finance office in Halifax, as well as at the Company’s operating mines and exploration properties located in Mexico and Canada. Key responsibilities include:
Daily management of accounting activities for corporate entities and exploration properties, including accounts payable function
Management of monthly financial statement close for corporate entities and exploration properties, including preparation and review of account reconcilations and financial statement support files
Research and analysis of complex accounting issues
Review of quarterly working paper files
Review of consolidation and analysis of foreign exchange impacts on the financial statements
Assist with implementation of automated consolidation software
Preparation and review of internal reports for senior management
Staff management
Other projects and duties as required
As the ideal candidate, you have a CPA, CA, CMA or CGA designation with a minimum of 3 years in a similar position. You are a natural leader who has successfully navigated in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You take pride in your work and understand the importance of timely and accurate financial information. You bring comprehensive experience in full-cycle accounting and a proficiency in Excel.
