Investment Analyst
Butterfield Support Services
Our Halifax office, Butterfield Support Service, is seeking an experienced Investment Analyst to join our support services team. This position reports to the Group Investment Controller and is responsible for various financial related activities that will include investment portfolio accounting for our $3 billion fixed and floating income portfolio as well as annual planning activities, quarterly forecasting and business line analysis for all jurisdictions of Butterfield Group
Your responsibilities will include:
booking regular trades, reconcile cash and investment positions and verifying security data accuracy
performing monthly portfolio valuations including all calculations and verifications for security pricing, interest accruals, yield, amortization, principal and interest payments and realized/unrealized gains and losses
producing all supporting investment documents, reports and deliverables
continuously monitoring credit ratings and other impairment indicators
providing business planning, forecasting and financial results support through quantitative and qualitative analysis related to internal business performance
liaising with external investment manager and internal custody department
other finance related accountabilities as assigned.
Your experience/skills may include:
University degree and accounting qualification (CPA, CA, CFA or equivalent) with investment or banking experience preferred
detailed understanding of investment securities and portfolio accounting
knowledge of US GAAP would be an asset
experience using Bloomberg and Bloomberg API
knowledge of SAP General Ledger System would be an asset
excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to multi task and prioritize
strong attention to detail, high ethical standards, and efficient time management skills is required
ability to meet tight deadlines that may include working outside of normal hours and on weekends and statutory holidays
proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications particularly Excel including pivot tables and macros
