Fulfillment Specialist, Assistant Manager – The Organic Box – Edmonton, Alberta

We are the glue that makes the organic food business in Northern Alberta work better. From our well-known home delivery business, to our food processing warehouse, commercial kitchens and distribution business, we are a very busy team of 50 people working hard to bring the best of Alberta food to Albertans.

We are looking for the right person to take charge of our fulfilment process, from order to delivery. If you love puzzles, are comfortable with maps and data, and don’t mind when the best laid plans just don’t work out, we want to find you a home with our food family in Edmonton.

How you will make us work better:

Be responsible for leading efficient planning of the week’s work
Develop and document highly structured, repeatable processes
Meet internal commitments to both production and delivery teams
Be accountable for member and order data integrity for production and delivery teams
Plan production schedule for warehouse
Oversee and assign our member orders to delivery routes
Dispatch delivery vans and drivers to assigned routes and member stops
Track progress of order fulfillment and taking proactive measures to meet member commitments
Communicate with our members about delivery times, order status and delivery instruction changes in real-time

The skills you will bring to the job:

A good history of problem solving and a focus on making things work
Experience in logistics management and fulfilment management
Outstanding communication skills across every platform you can imagine, including email, phone calls, text messages, tweets, Facebook, carrier pigeon and skywriting
Well organized approach to your job and daily routines planned in regular increments
Taking ownership for efficiency and improvement in the fulfillment part of our organization, both process and technology
Being a team player, willing to approach the worst winter day of the year with optimism and enthusiasm and work until the job is done
Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new technology quickly

Who you need to be a success:

Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance purposes)
Valid Class-5 Alberta Drivers’ Licence, with clean driving record
Clear criminal background check
Excellent physical condition, able to lift heavy loads (20-50lbs), up and down stairs
Reliable
Excellent people skills
Enthusiasm and energy
Sound judgment
Brings positive, tenacious energy to the workplace
Able to maintain a positive attitude when everything goes wrong
Takes a personal stand for healthfulness and is concerned about the future of our food and our food systems
