The Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) was established in 1905 to provide a common voice for BC local governments and this role is as important today as it was over 100 years ago. UBCM is a member-driven association, with a vision to effectively represent and serve all local governments in BC by being the recognized advocate for their common interests and by meeting the common needs of the membership.
With offices in Richmond and Victoria, BC, UBCM has evolved and grown to meet its members’ needs. UBCM’s history of strong policy and advocacy work is complemented with the administration of funding programs and services delivered out to its membership. Due to the upcoming retirement of the current incumbent we are now looking for a Financial Services Officer. This full-time position is responsible for providing a variety of accounting/bookkeeping and administrative services to support UBCM operations which includes performing full-cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll, remittances, pension and benefit administration, support to Group Benefits and Member Services and other financial support for UBCM programs and services. The successful candidate will possess a diploma in bookkeeping/accounting and/or diploma or degree in office/business administration with 3 years of recent (within the last 5 years) of related or equivalent experience. Financial/administration experience in a local government (municipality, regional district) or not-for-profit organization would be an asset.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer in the Richmond Office, the incumbent will possess sound business and financial accounting experience; be a well-organized individual with excellent interpersonal skills; possess an ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
