JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking an Account Manager with proven business development skills in financial services to support the Branch Manager in achieving branch sales targets while providing superior service to existing and prospective credit union clients. The role will actively promote, recommend, up-sell and cross-sell a full range of banking, lending and investment products and services by developing and implementing a structured marketing strategy and sales and service business plan. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
You will assist the Branch Manager in contributing to the profitable growth of the branch’s retail and commercial business by maximizing opportunities with existing clients and generating strong sales results while ensuring exceptional client service. Using your thorough knowledge of financial products and services, you will provide expert advice to acquire and retain new clients. In partnership with the Branch/Area Manager through community involvement, you will raise awareness of the credit union and its capabilities and develop a network of referral sources for new business.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Establishing and grow long-term relationships with clients by providing financial advice and being the primary point of contact for opening/closing personal, small business and investment accounts including mutual funds.
Interviewing clients to identify their financial needs; collecting required documentation; analyzing information obtained and recommend relevant banking solutions.
Assessing credit worthiness and making recommendations regarding loan approvals/declines.
Promoting, recommending, up-selling and cross-selling a full range of deposit, investment, mutual funds and lending products; accurately processing relevant documentation associated with the sale of all financial products.
Meeting assigned sale targets and sales activity goals.
Actively participating in branch sales meetings, initiatives, campaigns and promotions.
Maintaining a sustainable prospect ales pipeline and confidently soliciting new business through referrals, telephone calls and other techniques.
Regularly reviewing loan, mortgage and deposit maturities and other reports and consistently following up with clients to retain and obtain additional business.
Managing an assigned portfolio of small business accounts, involving annual review of the risk and profitability; monitoring problem accounts and developing plans to minimize risk.
Maintaining a working knowledge of all features and benefits of the products and services offered; keeping up to date on product and procedural changes.
Adhering to established rate policies, branch safety, operational and regulatory compliance.
Maintaining a professional and ethical standard of conduct at all times.
Representing IC Savings in the community, as directed by the Branch/Area Manager, by participating in local business activities and community functions.
Acting as senior branch officer during assigned hours within assigned limits. Assisting the Branch/Area Manager with administrative activities and other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will have:
Minimum 3+ years of related banking experience in an advice-giving role, preferably in a sales capacity with a proven sales track record.
Completion of post-secondary education in business, commerce or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mutual funds license or accreditation in place within 3 months after start date.
Strong sales, soliciting, persuasion, advice-giving, relationship building, marketing, interpersonal, customer service, organizational, time management, priority-setting, problem-solving and follow-up skills.
Very good knowledge of banking products and services and their features and benefits, including investments and mutual funds; solid understanding of lending practices.
High level of enthusiasm, professionalism, entrepreneurial spirit, motivation, initiative, accountability, ownership, teamwork and commitment to achieving sales goals.
Ability to work well under pressure; remain calm and professional when dealing with conflict; effectively resolve client complaints and escalate when needed.
Sound knowledge of Canadian banking regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; fluency in English and a working knowledge of Italian are required.
Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT
Branch hours are: Mon –Wed: 9 am – 5 pm, Thu – Fri: 9 am – 6 pm, Sat: 9 am – 2 pm.
Staff working hours are based on a 37.5 hour work week + Saturdays on a rotational basis.
Community relations and business development will involve some after-hours activities.
Occasional travel may be required.
Flexibility to relocate temporarily to another branch when business needs require it.
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by being able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job; these include, but are not limited to: sitting, driving, considerable use of computer and phone.
