On behalf of our client, Valley Drug Mart Limited is a privately-owned retail pharmacy company which operates 4 pharmacies in Nova Scotia and PEI as well as a home health care company. The owners of the company are seeking to hire a Financial Controller to commence employment by early April 2015.
Reporting directly to the company owners, the Financial Controller will be an integral member of the management team, and will be expected to manage and provide strategic input pertaining to all financial matters, develop appropriate management and financial reporting systems, internal controls and other processes, oversee the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements for each pharmacy and the company, analyze internal financial documents, ensure compliance with all accounting, and tax regulations and reporting, prepare annual forecasts and cash flows and address other financial related matters.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for:
Overseeing all accounting functions, general ledger maintenance, internal and system controls of the Company;
Overseeing the inventory, fixed assets and intercompany functions;
Managing cash flow and banking functions;
Preparing annual financial operating and capital budgets;
Maintaining and processing payroll;
Completing timely and accurate monthly internal financial statements including analyzing monthly operating results against budgets;
Coordinating the Company’s annual review engagement financial statements;
Complying with local and federal government reporting and tax filings including HST, WCB and corporate income taxes;
Completing special projects as deemed necessary; and
Providing guidance on all financial matters.
With a strong work ethic and ability to self-motivate, the successful candidate will be a confident individual who works well independently as well as in a team environment. Combining strong communication skills with an above average attention to detail, we are looking for a professional and dedicated individual who continuously produces outstanding results. A CPA or equivalent designation would be an asset with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
The successful candidate will be able to work out of either of the Middleton or Middle Sackville location. The expected remuneration will be in the range of $65,000 to $80,000 plus bonus, commensurate with experience.
