The Vancouver Board of Education invites applications for a Finance Supervisor of Capital Projects for Vancouver Project Office (VPO).
General Job Description:
Developing and implementing policy and procedures within the Capital Project Office related to budgeting, financial analysis and financial reporting for VPO capital projects
Providing strategic analysis and financial advice to senior management of the VPO
Coordinating the forecasting and budget setting process for the VPO capital budgets
Tracking, analyzing, interpreting and communicating budget and expense variances for capital projects
Performing monthly budget versus actuals variance analysis for all capital projects and the VPSO’s operating budget
Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate forecasting of consolidated financial results
Performing specialized financial or cost analysis regarding project options
Monitoring financial systems, recommending necessary system and process changes to improve efficiency of the budgeting and forecasting functions
Liaise with procurement staff in the preparation and processing of requisitions and purchase orders
Assuring compliance with federal, provincial and local laws and regulations and preparing internal and external reporting
Liaising with District staff, government and outside agencies
Hiring, training and supervising unionized staff
Knowledge and Qualifications:
CPA and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience preferably within a capital project management (building construction) environment.
This is a permanent position, reporting to the Operations Manager of Project Office, which is exempt from union jurisdiction. The salary range for this position is $79,472 – $85,957.
