POSITION
The Finance Clerk assists in maintaining the daily and monthly accounting and financial activities for the Ecology Action Centre, including month end postings, bank reconciliations and financial tracking for both Operations and Projects. The position reports to the Finance Manager.
Duties include:
Assist with month-end activities; all bank statement postings and bank account reconciliation
Enter bi-weekly payroll posting into accounting software
Provide support for fiscal year-end and annual audit
Update tracking of Operations revenues and expenses monthly
Update monthly tracking of projects
Physical filing of finance documents
Additional activities as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Required skills and experience:
1-2 years experience in a financial capacity. Some post-secondary education.
Experience using accounting software. Knowledge of Sage 50 an asset.
Excellent Excel skills

Desirable skills and experience:
Experience in a non-profit environment
Accounting/Bookkeeping courses (community college or university)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Start: August 2019 for an indefinite term
10-12 hours per week @ $18.00 – 20.00/hour, based on experience
Workdays: 2 days per week, Monday to Friday, specific days to be decided
Location: This position will be based at our Halifax office.
