Finance & Administrative Coordinator – Toronto Environmental Alliance – Toronto

The Position:
We are seeking a Finance & Administrative Coordinator with strong bookkeeping, finance and administrative skills, who is excited about making a contribution to building strong, green and equitable communities.
The successful candidate will support both TEA and MFRC as part of a shared role. They will be an important part of two passionate teams, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of both organizations. The relatively small scale operations of each organization make a shared role possible, with a clear schedule of dedicated time allocated to each organization.

Responsibilities:
Use QuickBooks to input and track financial transactions, accounts payable, account receivable and generate routine financial reports
Administer payroll and required remittances through payroll systems
Support the preparation of annual audits
Support the preparation of annual charitable and non-profit tax returns
Administer bank accounts and track cash-flow
File GST rebates
Support financial tracking and reporting on external grants
Track and report on program expenses
Support financial record-keeping
Input and process donations and mailing donor receipts using donor management software
Support the preparation of annual operational budget with staff team
Assist with day-to-day office administration
Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:
Minimum five years’ working in a bookkeeping role
Proficient with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience with the administration of payroll and remittances
Ability to take initiative and work independently in different work settings
Well-honed organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail
Previous experience working with a not-for-profit is strongly preferred
Previous experience with tracking grants expenses and preparing grants financial reports is strongly preferred
Passion for community development and a commitment to social and environmental justice

Terms of Employment:
Compensation is $55,000 – $60,000. This is a full-time position with three weeks of vacation, plus paid time off for an annual holiday office closure, and health benefits after confirmation in role.
The successful candidate will work three days with TEA, with the option to work remotely and may occasionally work from TEA’s office in downtown Toronto, as required. They will work two days with MFRC at their Scarborough location at 90 Littles Road. Hours of work are Monday to Friday; 7.5 hours per day.
As a frontline multi-service agency, this position will require regular in-office presence for MFRC. MFRC has an existing COVID-19 vaccine policy. All existing and new staff must be able to show proof of having at least two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine.
